In this video, I will give brief information about facelift surgeries. Our face consists of five different layers. The need for a facelift arises from the downward displacement in the front part of the face due to gravity and from the volume loss of the fat pads in our face. Everyone knows facelift surgery, but I want to explain what exactly needs to be done and what the right approach is.
When you place your finger on the front part of your face and slide it upward, you will see that the side of your nose and the corner of your mouth tighten up very nicely. This is the kind of change patients who come to us say they want, saying, “Doctor, I want exactly this change.” To achieve this, with surgery you can make an incision from the front of the hairline, go down to the deep plane, and from just under the tissue called the SMAS, you can suspend upward the layers in the facial area that have shifted downward. The point to pay attention to here is that no tension should be created in the skin, meaning that the anatomical position that should exist in each of the five layers I mentioned must be restored. To do this, it is necessary to go down to the correct layer, perform the correct releases, and do the correct fixation. If you expect this to be fully achieved with a thread facelift, you may be disappointed. Every procedure has advantages and disadvantages. Facelift surgery is the most powerful procedure among these facial rejuvenation procedures and the one that provides the most proper correction. Of course, the physician who will do this must have received the appropriate training and must be performing it in sufficient numbers and with sufficient frequency.
